Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHORSTEINN THORSTEINSON With his family by his side, Thor passed away peacefully in Winnipeg at the Grace Hospital on Saturday, February 16 at the age of 88 years Thor (Steini) was born in Winnipeg on May 10, 1919 to Sigurdur and Haldora. He attended Wellington and General Wolfe schools. He married Ebba Wahlquist on July 5, 1941 in Winnipeg. He served in the Second World War with the Lincoln and Welland Regiment from 1943 to 1946. Returning from the war, he worked at Canada Cement. He was the Postmaster in Oak Point, Manitoba from 1951 to 1965. He then moved to Winnipeg and worked in the main Post Office until his retirement in 1984. Thor was predeceased by his two brothers, Jonas and Dave. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Ebba, of 66 years, his son Barry (Wanda) of Ottawa, and daughter Marilyn of Winnipeg. They have six grandchildren, Diana (Ed), Wendy (Paul), Ken (Amy), Erik, Stefan and Nels. Also six great-grandchildren, Daryl, Craig, Benjamin, Alexandra, Violet and Brynn. In his younger years, Thor loved to help people paint and repair their homes. He loved going to dances both at Oak Point and the Winnipeg Legions. He was a member of the West Kildonan Legion for 63 years. Thor wanted a private family burial at Brookside Veterans Cemetery. A reception for family and friends will be held at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Avenue, Aubrey Street entrance on Monday, February 25 at 2:00 p.m. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Canadian Arthritis Society, Suite 105, 386 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 3R6.
