DORIS ELSIE PROCEVIAT (nee LANDIN) December 11, 1922 - February 21, 2008 It is with heartfelt sorrow that the family announces the peaceful passing of Doris Proceviat on February 21, 2008, at Park Manor Personal Care Home. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Pennie (Michael Pilon) and Cheryl (Gary Ganes) and grandsons, (Shawn and Trevor Robillard and Tyler Ganes). She will also be missed by sisters, Lillian and Joyce (Sam), brother Ray, sister-in-law Pearl Carlson, and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Doris was predeceased by her husband Fred, parents, Robert and Ellen and brothers, Roy and Bobby. Mom was born in Sioux Lookout, Ontario. Her dad worked for the C.N.R. and so the family moved many times throughout northern Ontario and into Manitoba where they eventually settled in the Vivian area. It was here that mom spent her teen years. These years provided her family with many stories about school days and all the barn dances. It was also here that mom met the love of her life. Mom and dad were married in 1942 and spent almost 50 years together before he passed away. Mom moved frequently again with dad as he worked on road construction. They eventually settled in Thunder Bay. Mom lived life to the fullest. She was interested in everything - sewing, quilting, baking, gardening, square dancing, travel, entertaining friends, playing cards, taking walks, shopping, curling and volunteer work. Her very favourite activity was talking and spending time with new and old friends. She was always Miss Social Butterfly. Children and pets held a special place in Mom's heart. Mom was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star. She treasured the time she was an active member there. Mom cared deeply for friends and family and was always willing to help. She was a member of Transcona United Church. Her strong faith and amazing sense of humour helped carry her through the last few years. The family would like to thank the staff, residents and tenants associated with Park Manor. Even though she may not have remembered your names, you were all her special friends. Big hugs to the nursing staff for their compassionate care. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 1 at 10:30 a.m. at Park Manor Personal Care Home. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
