ELLEN GIBSON RASMUSSEN (NEE DORAN) It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ellen on February 23, 2008 at 86 years of age. Ellen was predeceased by her husband William in 1984 and her parents Joseph and Beatrice Doran. Ellen leaves to mourn her daughter JoAnn (Nancy) and sons Vern (Alice), Gary (Elishka), grandson Kolten, granddaughters Tamara (Dave), Samantha (Dave) and great-granddaughter Alexus. Sister Betty Johnson of Lethbridge, Alberta, brother Joseph (Phyllis) Doran, and numerous brothers- in-law, nieces and nephews. Ellen was born June 27, 1921 and raised in Winnipeg, she was employed with Eaton's Candy Dept. and Alfred Lambert Inc. for many years. Ellen married William, the love of her life, August 4, 1944 and remained a homemaker for the rest of her life enjoying her family and friends around her. Ellen will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Ellen had a great love for all her animals, especially her pugs, who over the years brought her many joyous times and memories. Special thanks to the nurses of palliative care and doctors Settler, Brandes and Peterson. Cremation has taken place at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens 455 Lagimodiere Blvd, in compliance with Ellen's wishes no service will be held. Flowers are gratefully declined, if family and friends so desire, donations may be made in Ellen's memory to D'Arcy's Animal Rescue Center 1793 Portage Ave. Winnipeg, MB. R3J 0E8 or the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook St, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 2B7.
