Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySARA ELLEN THOMSON (nee LOVE) It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Sara Ellen Thomson on Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at Broadway Lodge in Vancouver. Ellen was born March 9, 1913, in Dauphin, Manitoba, and raised there. She left Dauphin and moved to Winnipeg where she continued to work for Manitoba Telephone for 25 years. Feeling the urge to travel west, she decided to take a job, as an Executive Secretary, with PanCanadian Energy Corporation in Calgary. There she married John Thomson (the two originally knew each other from Gilbert Plains, Manitoba) on December 24, 1960, and enjoyed a wonderful marriage for almost 20 years. John died in 1979. In 1980 Ellen moved to Courtenay on Vancouver Island and made many close friends in the community. In August 2007, she moved to Broadway Lodge to be closer to her niece, Corinne Durston, and her younger sister, Clara, and brother-in-law, Dusty, who spend the winters in Vancouver. Ellen was an affectionate, fun loving and generous person and will be greatly missed by all her friends and extended family, particularly Clara and Glen Durston of Falcon Beach, Manitoba. Also mourning her death is her other brother-in-law, Cam Neirinck (his wife, Lil, Ellen's middle sister, died in 1999), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. No service will be held at this time. Cremation will take place and Ellen's ashes will be interred in Burnsland Cemetery, Calgary, Alberta, later this month. Donations may be made, in Ellen's memory, to the Canadian Diabetes Society.
