LENA CYNTHIA POLIAH 1934 - 2008 It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and teacher, Lena Poliah, at the St. Boniface Hospital, on Monday, March 31, 2008, at the age of 73 years. Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband Ellsworth, children: Schenley (Nardia), Ravi, Arlene (Lawrence) Elliott, grandchildren: Shaylyn, Jared, Keegan, and Adam, sister Agnes Nancoo, and numerous nieces and nephews around the world. Lena was a gifted teacher. She had a gentle way of making each child feel special, giving them the love of learning. She enriched the lives of many. In accordance with Lena's wishes, cremation and a private family interment has already taken place. A Memorial Service was held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 4 at Windsor Park United Church. The family would like to thank Scott Kirkhope and the staff at Glen Lawn Funeral Home who helped to ensure that her final wishes were fulfilled. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Lena to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, or the Kidney Foundation of Manitoba. The family would like to express our gratitude to all of our family, friends and neighbours for their love, support and prayers throughout the course of Lena's illness. We appreciated the spiritual care provided to us by Father Roland and Reverend Martha. We would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all of the staff of St. Boniface Hospital for their expert care and support. Special thanks to Dr. Rigatto and all of the staff of the PD Dialysis Unit; Lorena and Drs. Daenick, Garcia, Forward, Loiselle, Harlos, and the staff of the palliative care unit; Karen, Desna, Janelle, and all of the home care staff who cared for her.
