Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMADELEINE POIRIER (nee PICHE) January 23, 1931 - April 30, 2008 Suddenly, on April 30, 2008, Madeleine Poirier passed away at the Notre Dame Hospital. She leaves to cherish her memory her six children: Lucille (Claude Chappellaz) of St. Claude, Marcel (Marilyne) of Haywood, Donald of Norman Wells, NWT, Gerald (Nicole) of Haywood, Roland of St. Claude and Robert of Haywood; as well as their father Roland Poirier of Manitou. She also leaves to mourn her grandchildren: Nicole, Mona, Collette (Andrew Palmer), Martin (Mandy), Michelle, and Matthieu, Darcy, Jamie, Kimberly and Bradly; and three great-grandchildren: Marie-Claude and Alexandre She has three great grandchildren: Marie-Claude, Alexandre Palmer and Brayden Poirier. Grieving her loss are her remaining siblings: Fernande (late Emile) Robidoux of Haywood, Camille (Louise) of Victoriaville, QC, Jean (Therese) of La Broquerie, Jeannette (Paul) Roy of Winnipeg, Pauline (Roger) Belisle of Winnipeg and Claudette (Ted ) Rusywich of Stoney Plain, AB. She is survived by many in-laws, nephews and nieces, as well as friends of her present home in the Manoir St. Claude. She was predeceased by her parents Gaspard Piché and Marcelle (Painchaud); and by two brothers: Laurent and Aime. Mom was born in Fannystelle, Manitoba on January 23, 1931 where she also did her grade school. Being the eldest child, she devoted much of her time to helping her mother with the children on the family farm. She married Roland Poirier in 1955 and they raised their family of six children, including a set of twins. Mom helped manage the bookkeeping in the early years of the family business in the trucking and concrete industry. She was a gardener and a knitter. Mom retired to a house in Haywood in 1995 enjoying her crafty hobbies including needlepoint. In later years, she settled in the Manoir de St. Claude where she enjoyed the companionship of card and game partners. To her last days, each family gathering called for a Mom's best pineapple cheesecake. Prayers will be held at Adam's Funeral Home on Sunday, May 4, 2008 at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held in the St. Denis Roman Catholic Church in Haywood, Manitoba on Monday, May 5, 2008. Viewing, Rosary and Video Tribute at 1:30 p.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 2:00 p.m. Cremation to follow with interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, friends may forward donations to the St. Claude and Haywood Wellness Centre, Box 334, St. Claude, MB R0G 1Z0.
