Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEVELYN BURGESS July 14, 1912 April 30, 2008 Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things God has prepared for those who love Him. 1 Corinthians 2:9 In the early morning hours of April 30, 2008, Annie Evelyn Burgess was welcomed home by her Saviour, Jesus Christ, with her much-loved niece, Roberta, at her bedside at West Park Manor. She leaves to cherish her memory her dear sister Edna, her nephews, Bill Burgess and Tim Sanders (Carla), Danny Sanders and nieces, Roberta Burgess and Kathie McDowell (Keith) and grand-nephew Kyle, great-nieces Kelsey, Stephanie and Melanie and great-great-nephew Liam. Evelyn was predeceased by her parents William Austin Burgess and Mary Ellen (Alldritt) Burgess in 1947 and 1957 respectively and by her siblings, Francis Elmer Burgess, Olive Muriel Sanders in 2000, Elizabeth Alldritt Stock in 1992, Wilfred Roy Burgess 1999 and nephew Paul Sanders. Evelyn was born at home on July 14, 1912, in Silver Creek Municipality near Foxwarren and Angusville. She attended Boyle School to the end of Grade 9 and went to Foxwarren for Grade 10. It was at this time the family relocated to Winnipeg and Evelyn completed high school at Daniel McIntyre. After graduation she attended Dominion Business College after which she began a lengthy and rewarding career as the manager's secretary at Massey Fenwick Ltd. later to be known as Continental Insurance Companies. Shortly after the Burgess Family's arrival in Winnipeg, they sought out Grace United Church and this became their place of worship. Evelyn would later find another church to attend with Edna, Elim Chapel. Her final church of choice and where she was a chartered member was Grace Bible Church. For those who knew Evelyn well she was quickly recognized as being as beautiful on the inside as she appeared outwardly. She was a loyal and faithful friend; gentle, gracious and kind in her dealings with others. Evelyn's tender heart was expressed in her love for the many dogs she nurtured over her lifetime, the latest being her dear Gabby. Because of declining health, in February of 2003 Evelyn and Edna made the decision to leave their home at 225 Campbell St. and move to Lindenwood Manor in February, 2004. After a brief stay and complications due to a fall, Evelyn made one final move to West Park Manor in November of the same year. Many thanks to the caring and compassionate staff at the Manor who cared for her with diligence and devotion. You are heroes! A memorial service for Evelyn will be held Monday, May 5, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Thomson In The Park, 1291 McGillivray Ave. THOMSON IN THE PARK 925-1120 Send expressions of sympathy to www.mem.com
