LORNA POIRIER (nee HIEBERT) It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend Lorna Poirier. After a courageous battle with cancer Lorna went to her heavenly home on Thursday, May 22, 2008 at the age of 50. Lorna will be missed by her husband Michel, her daughters and their husbands, Christine and Gabriel (Tetrault), LeeAnn and Tom (Giesbrecht); her son Nicholas; her mother Nettie Hiebert; siblings, Tina and Ed (Doerksen), Nettie Hiebert, Anne and Cliff (Omichinski), Esther and Maurice Poirier, Ben and Vanessa Hiebert, Sherryl and Rheal (Perrin) as well as her mother-in-law Emilienne Poirier, brothers and sisters-in-law Emilien and Helen Poirier, Raymond and Cecile Poirier, Laurette and Paul (Musso), Armande and Laurent (Dansereau), Gerard and Eveline Poirier, Eveline and Rheal (Turenne), Normand and Marie Poirier, Marie-Therese and Bernard (LeFevre), Robert and Joelle Poirier, Arthur and Julie Poirier, Lucien and Carmel Poirier, Albert and Yvette Poirier, Lorraine Poirier, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends. Lorna was predeceased by her father Ben F. Hiebert in 1980; her father-in-law Armand Poirier in 1997, brother and sisters-in-law Claude and Lynne and Jeanette Poirier in 1974 and her nephew Adam Poirier in 2004. Lorna was born on April 21, 1958 to Ben and Nettie Hiebert of Niverville, MB. On August 7, 1976 Lorna married the love of her life Michel Poirier from Otterburne, MB where they raised their three wonderful children Christine, LeeAnn and Nicholas. Lorna was a wonderful loving person who always put her family first. She could always be found putting time and energy in to her crafts. Two of these crafts were her love of painting ceramics and sewing some of the most amazing Barbie doll dresses. Lorna loved to get together with her family and friends to paint, and as long as the pot of coffee was going she could go all day joking and talking and never putting down that paint brush. The things she created were absolutely the best. We all love you and will miss you deeply. Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Dr, Steinbach on Monday, May 26, 7:00 to 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 27 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fourth Avenue Bible Church, corner of 4th Ave and 1st Street, Niverville with interment in Niverville Hespeler Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, Room ON109 675 McDermot Ave.; Winnipeg., MB R3E 0V9.
