ELEANOR EMILY POLISCHUK (nee JOWETT) December 3, 1928 - June 12, 2008 Peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, it is with deepest regret that we announce the death of Eleanor Emily Polischuk on Thursday, June 12 at the Grace Hospital at the age of 79 years. Remaining to forever cherish Eleanor's memory are her son Bill (Christa) Polischuk of Prince Albert; daughter Debbie (Roger) Smith of Hazelridge; three grandsons, two granddaughters, 10 great-grandchildren; sister Peggy (Stuart) Walker of Dugald, MB, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and special friends Moreen Jackson, Evelyn Croydon and Ray and Colleen Cameron. She was predeceased by her parents, three brothers and her husband. Eleanor was born and raised in Winnipeg and worked at Eaton's for many years until she married Victor (her late husband) in 1949. She loved sewing, knitting and crocheting. Eleanor made afghans for all her grandchildren and many others. Her best hobby was cooking and she cooked lots and gave a lot away to help others who needed it. Eleanor was always willing to help those in need. On Thursday, June 19 at 2:00 p.m. there will be a Graveside Service for Eleanor in Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Avenue. Following the Graveside Service, there will be a time to reminisce and have coffee at Smitty's on St. James Street at Ellice Avenue. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Grace Hospital 3rd floor south and Dr. Maksymiak of the Cancer Clinic and all those that helped her. In lieu of flowers, donations in Eleanor's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
