Augie was born and raised in Oak Point, Manitoba, as part of a large, close knit family. He was very proud of his Icelandic heritage. When he was young he liked working on the farm and fishing with his Dad. For over 35 years he owned and operated his own business. He was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather and his grandchildren were the light of his life. He always looked on the bright side of any situation his glass was always half full. This positive attitude got him through many health issues. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends at Oak Point, curling, his monthly card games with his poker buddies, as well as horse racing, especially watching Bill Rob Mitchell's horses. He enjoyed the friendly rivalry of many cribbage games over the years with friends and family. Augie and Carolyn were happy to have had the opportunity to visit Hawaii, Portugal, The Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and Mexico. The family has special memories of our trips to Disney with Lloyd, Diane and Jeff Cowie. The family would like to thank Dr. Darcy Johnson for his care and compassion over the past five years; also, the palliative and home care nurses. A special thank you to Dr. Edward St. Godard and nurses Dorothy, Caroline and Carol on 3E of the Riverview Health Centre. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 23, at 11:00 a.m. at Crescent Fort Rouge United Church, 525 Wardlaw Ave., with Reverend Barb Janes officiating.
