ALICE BEVERLEY CORNEY (Previously ZDRILL) (nee KULMAN) July 22, 1946 - July 3, 2008 In great peace, fully expecting to be united with the Lord and with loved ones, our beloved mother Alice passed away on Thursday, July 3 at 10:45 p.m. at the beautiful and peaceful Palliative Care Ward at the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, MB. After being diagnosed with cancer in October of 2007, Mom enjoyed eight months with relatively little pain and much time to visit with loved ones and to strengthen her relationship with God. She returned to the church and had learned to live with much joy and gratitude for all of her blessings. So much peace and joy had been granted to her through her extended illness, and the prayer and communion with loved ones that ensued, that two weeks before her death and through the greater suffering that by this time had begun, she was able to say, I am the happiest I have ever been in my life... . During her two week fast decline, or 'incline' to a better place, she was surrounded by friends and family, even at night when we would sleep beside her in a cot. She was able to verbalize all she needed to, loved ones were able to say goodbye, and she departed on her new journey in readiness and peace. For any who knew the special and sweet woman who was (and is) our mother, there will be a funeral service held for her at her church, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 401 Kildare Ave. West (Transcona) on Thursday, July 10 at 1:30 p.m. (viewing at 12:30 p.m., closed casket for the service). There will be food and refreshments at her home, #4 Camrose Bay (a few blocks from the church) directly following the service where friends and family will be able to grieve together, but also will also be celebrating her life by sharing pictures and stories about Mom. All are welcome. Her burial service will take place the following day, Friday, July 11 at 3:30 p.m. at the Hope Cemetery near Grahamdale, Manitoba. Those who wish to attend should be aware that it is a 2.5 hour drive away. Details will be given as to directions at the funeral service. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her husband Wayne; daughters, Tracy and Malinda; step-son Chris and step-daughter Cathy, and many, many wonderful friends and relatives. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made - some suggestions are to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Room ON1169, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9, or the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3, each representing causes Mom cared for very much. Thank-you. Arrangements by: ARNASON FUNERAL HOME Ashern - Lundar 1-204-768-2072 1-866-323-3593
