Date of Passing: Jul 07, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMANLEY (BABE) PULL Our beloved Babe died on Monday night, July 7, 2008 surrounded by the love of his son Gordon and family. He was 91. Babe fought bravely after surgery but it was not to be. He shall rest now, free of pain at last, beside his beloved wife Dorothy (1999), son Robert (1988) and infant granddaughter Dawnlee (1965). Babe was the last of his generation of the Pull family of seven children. Babe leaves to remember him, his son Gordon (Courtney, BC), grandson James and his mother Sherry (Omaha, NE) and many relatives and close friends. Babe was born in Kenora and came to Winnipeg with his family at a young age. He graduated from the former Grandin School on Pembina Hwy. After many struggles during the depression and after he and Dorothy married he finally found steady work with the CNR (35 years). After a heart attack he chose an early retirement. Babe and Dor built their own lovely home while still a young family - he even made the windows. He loved his home and lived in it until the end as was his wish. Babe loved music and was musically talented. He played the piano, organ, guitar as well as other instruments. He mastered the computer in his 80s and derived great pleasure from it. Babe was artistically talented as well. He and Dorothy made many gifts for family and friends, along with boxes of them for the United Church to be sold at rummage sales. He did paper tole and even framed them. He took up folk art, acrylic and oil painting. The two applied these talents to their gifts whether it be kitchen stools, hangings, paintings or the ubiquitous butterflies everyone wanted for the back yard. Babe was an intelligent, outgoing, friendly man who loved people. He loved his family, his friends and he loved life and lived it fully. But Babe began to slowly question his faith after the loss of son Bob to cancer and the horrors brought into the home daily by the media. But if ever there was a Christian - it was he - for above all he was a good, kind man and that is all that anyone asks of us. Babe loved the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital and we wish to thank all of you very much. At his request, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service. Family are invited to gather for interment, with his nephew Laverne Olson presiding, at Thomson in the Park Cemetery, 1291 McGillivray Blvd., on Thursday, July 10, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. Immediately following will be a celebration and remembrances of his life at Holiday Inn, 1330 Pembina Hwy.
