LESLIE ROBERT PORTER Les passed away July 22, 2008 of a brain aneurysm. Les Porter was born May 9, 1921 in Morris, Manitoba to Robert and Sarah Porter. Les grew up in Morris until he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force where he served his country during the Second World War. After the war he moved to Winnipeg where he met and married Doreen Beerling and they raised four children. Les was predeceased by his parents, his sister Jean Teske, his son Ken and his brother-in-law James Gibbs. Les is survived by his wife Doreen of 57 years, his sons Donald (Janet) and Gary (Shila) and his daughter Wendy (Tim) and his sister-in-law Joan. He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held Friday, July 25 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Avenue. Cremation has taken place. Donations can be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
