Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryINGIBJORG SVEINBORG THORSTEINSON Peacefully on January 12, 2008 at the Gimli Community Health Center, Ingibjorg Thorsteinson, of Gimli and formerly of Riverton, passed away just days before her 96th birthday. Ingibjorg was born on the family farm Fagranes near Riverton on January 16, 1912 and attended school in Riverton. She was a member of the Riverton-Hnausa Lutheran Church and the Djorfung Ladies Aid. She worked in the family business, Riverton Boat Works for over 40 years, retiring in 1977. She enjoyed her three trips to Iceland one of which was via the ocean liner R.M.S. Carinthia and included time in England and Scotland. During her retirement she enjoyed traveling in their motor home throughout Canada and the US and spending the winters in Texas. We will always remember her as a hard working and intelligent individual, lovingly dedicated to her family and friends. Her interests had no bounds and her character was expressed in her everyday kind and caring ways. Ingibjorg was predeceased by her loving husband Chris, sons Kenny and Russell and son-in-law Victor Sigurdson. She leaves surviving daughter Judith Sigurdson, daughter-in-law Matilda Thorsteinson and son Brian (Karen) of California; grandchildren Clyde (Doreen), Keith (Connie), Ingrid, Kevin (Sandy), Myles (Diana), Wendy (Dan), Mark, Trevor (Larissa) and Krisjana; great-grandchildren Kerri (Steven), Christy (James), Christopher, Brett, Kyla, Delainy, Zachary, Darcy, Krisjay, Maverick and Morgan; and great-great-grandchildren Sarah, Amy, Stephanie, Erika and Jessica. She was also predeceased by her parents Margret and Sigfus Bjornson, sisters Margret, Bjorg and Vilborg, a brother Bjorn, foster parents Ingibjorg and Sigurdur Olson of Kelduland , four foster sisters, four foster brothers, her in-laws Jon and Rosa Thorsteinson, and brothers-in-law Gus, Ken and Joe. At her request, cremation has taken place. All are invited to join in a Celebration of Life service to be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, August 2, 2008 at the Riverton-Hnausa Lutheran Church in Riverton. Special thanks to the staff at the Betel Home in Gimli and the Gimli Hospital as well as Dr. R. C. Patel. Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli in care of arrangements.
