A longtime resident of St. Vital in Winnipeg and a wonderful 33 years of retirement in Kelowna. He worked for Canada Post as a postal officer until retirement in 1975. A member of Royal Canadian Legion #26 in Kelowna since 1975 and previously in Winnipeg legion. John had a passion for curling with the Kelowna Curling Club and they honoured him by making him an Honorary Life Member in October 1997. As were John's wishes, cremation will take place and a private family service will be held where he was born on March 21, 1917 in Minnedosa, MB at a later day. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that any donation be made in John's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society in Kelowna, BC. Special thanks for the kindness and care of Dr. Canning, Kelowna Cancer Group, Kelowna General Hospital, Palliative Home Care nurses who gave John the best of care over the many days.
