Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEMMA ANNIE ALICE THOMPSON (nee YESTRAU) April 22, 1913 - July 16, 2008 Peacefully on July 16 Emma Annie Alice Thompson (nee Yestrau) our dear mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt, mentor, and friend passed away. Born into a pioneer family April 22, 1913, Emma was raised and schooled in Rosewood, at the convent in Lorette and received her teaching certificate from the Normal School in Winnipeg. She taught school in rural Manitoba (Woodlands and Rosewood) from 1930-1947 and then in Winnipeg at Somerset and Lord Selkirk schools from 1950-1978. After retiring Emma tutored, volunteered with the disabled and nurtured her garden. Emma continued to be an inspiration to generations of young people until the deaths of her husband Russell and only sister Louise Gillet. Son Lori, daughter-in-law Deborah, daughter Gwen, son-in-law Oliver, grandchildren Scott and David Thompson, Richard and Elizabeth Robinow mourn her passing while they celebrate her long and purposeful life.
