Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILMA JOAN THOM It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Wilma Joan Thom at the Grace Hospital on August 21, 2008, after a lengthy struggle with Parkinson's disease. Wilma was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Peggy Holland, her husband Jim Thom, and two infants. Wilma is survived by her children, Jo-Ann (Clayton) Episkenew of Regina, Sandy (Darlene) Thom of Oakbank; brother Ray Holland of High River, AB, and sisters, Margaret Jaffray and Dorothy (Don) Munroe of Kelowna, BC, and Joyce Hinds of Grand Rapids, MI, as well her sister-in-law Barbara Thom, Cousins Jim and Wendy Swiss who helped Wilma till her last days, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Born November 4, 1929, Wilma was a life-long resident of Transcona and only spent the final months of her life in the Charleswood Care Centre. As a charter member of Chapter L of the P.E.O., Wilma was active in the organization until her health prevented her involvement. She served as President and helped organize P.E.O.'s international conference. Wilma and her family also enjoyed many summers with friends at Lake Malachi. Viewing will be held on Tuesday August 26 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Wheeler Funeral Chapel at 211 Regent Ave. W. Funeral service will follow on Wednesday, August 27 at 10:00 a.m. also at the Wheeler Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at the Transcona Cemetery.
