DOROTHY ELEANOR RANDALL (nee GUSSIE) It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grand-mother and great-grandmother on Saturday, August 30, 2008 with her family at her side. Dorothy was born January 14, 1930 in Golden Bay, Manitoba where she lived until her late teens. She then moved to Redditt, Ontario to work in the Beanery. It was there that she met her life-long love, Gordon, with whom she was married for 56 years until Gordon's passing in 2006. Gordon and Dorothy moved to Transcona in 1953 where they worked hard, played hard, and lovingly raised their family. Dorothy worked many years as a waitress and a seamstress, retiring in 1983. Dorothy was happiest when she was in a room filled with family and friends. Christmas Eve was her most special time to entertain. She had an incredible talent for sewing and crocheting. Her crocheted tablecloths won top place in many competitions and her beautiful hand-made blankets and slippers keep us warm. Dorothy and Gordon were both avid bowlers and won numerous trophies. We all hold fond memories of family times at their campsites in the Whiteshell and Beausejour. Dorothy was known for being a wonderful cook (she made the best soups), hostess and friend. Dorothy was predeceased by her mother and father, Edward and Lena Gusse; her sisters, Hazel and Evelyn. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Raymond (Linda), Audrey (Peter) and Cheryl; her seven grandchildren, Jeremy (Andrea), Patricia (Garth), Jason (Jennifer), Bryan (Manna), Shirley (Kevin), Heather (Roger) and Holly; and great-grandchildren, Tehgan, Samantha, Troy, Avery, Eli, Izabel Dorothy and Shane. Dorothy will also be very missed by her brother Clifford (Kay) and sisters, Martha, Geri (Keith), Joyce (Ken), June (Joe), Rose (George) and Iris (Art). A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held Friday, September 5 at 11:00 a.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St. Rev. Deacon Paul Martin to lead the celebration. Private interment to follow at a later date. Honorary pallbearers will be Dorothy's seven grandchildren. Dorothy's family send deeply felt appreciation to the staff of Riverview Health Centre for the wonderfully compassionate care they provided. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the Riverview Health Centre Foundation. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
