JEAN DICK PUGH Mrs. Jean Dick Pugh passed away suddenly at her residence near Justice on September 11, 2008 at the age of 82 years. She was predeceased by her husband William Bill Pugh; sister Mary Tennant; mother Ivy Tennant and father James Tennant. She is survived by her two sons, Willard and Donald Pugh and various cousins. Jean Pugh was born in 1926 at Russell, Manitoba. She lived on the family farm at Binscarth. She took her schooling at Woodstock School near Binscarth. Jean married William Bill Pugh in 1950 and moved to Shoal Lake, Manitoba where they ran a restaurant business. Later, she and her husband moved to Brandon where her husband worked for Lee Implements. In 1953, the family moved to the Brandon Hills District where they farmed until 1980. In 1981, the family purchased a farm in the Justice District where she resided until her passing. Jean was fully involved in the operation of the farm and all its activities. Jean and her sister, Mary, were very involved in school Christmas concerts at various small country schools around Brandon. Jean was also very musical and played the piano and saxophone. Jean and her sister, Mary, played in a dance band for many rural school dances in the area around Brandon. They also played at many weddings and social events. Jean was a great believer in education and was very involved in both of her sons' school and university training. She loved children and worked for over thirty years as a lunchroom supervisor at Meadows School in Brandon. Jean liked to cook and travel. She loved to travel with the family in the motorhome to Victoria and various other locations on fishing trips in Northern Manitoba. Jean also loved to travel with her sons and husband to various auction sales across Western Canada. A time of visitation will be held at Brockie Donovan Funeral Home, 332-8th Street, Brandon, on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Service for Jean will be celebrated at the Central United Church, 327-8th Street, Brandon, on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dwight Rutherford officiating. Interment will follow at the Brandon Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Donald Sumner, Colin Campbell, Bill Mansfield, Cliff Bowslaugh, Keith Blight and Bill Miller. All those in attendance will be considered Honorary Pallbearers. A time of fellowship will be held at the Central United Church Auditorium following the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jean may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 727B 10th Street, Brandon, MB R7A 4G7.
