Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATE EMMA QUINN (nee HOUGH) On September 10, 2008 Mom passed away at the Kildonan Personal Care Centre at the age of 94 years. She was born on June 9, 1914 to parents, James and Emma Snare. Kate was a life-long resident of St. James. Kate was predeceased by all her siblings, her first husband Howard Hough (1956), her second husband Edward (Scotty) Quinn and her stepson Asa Hough (2004). She is survived by her stepson Earle (Lillian), step grandchildren and extended family. Kate started her working life as a hair dresser, then became a housekeeper. After marrying Howard she looked after the family and ran a grocery store for several years. Following Howard's death Kate worked at Eatons and as a ward clerk at Deer Lodge Hospital. She married Scotty in 1960. They were together for 37 years. Kate was a talented accordionist. She appeared in the vaudeville shows at the Beacon Theatre and spent many pleasant evenings playing with the family band. She loved music. It gave her great pleasure when the infirmities of age allowed her little else. Kate was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star where she served as a Worthy Grand Matron. She was a strong, determined, generous woman with a great sense of humour. We will miss her. We would like to thank the caring and compassionate staff at Kildonan Personal Care Centre for their support and dedication to Mom. A graveside service will take place on Friday, September 19 at the St. James Cemetery, 523 Doreen Street, at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
