LENA BECKMAN (MEHLER) February 8, 1911 - September 11, 2008 Peacefully on Thursday at the age of 97 years Lena Beckman passed away at the Seven Oaks Hospital. She was predeceased by daughters Laurette (Legal) and Jean (Guilbault); sons-in-law Bill Kitchen and Joe Legal. She is survived by sons Jerry (Olga), Norman (Theresa), Gordon (Diane); daughters Shirley (Ed) and Marlene (Kitchen); son-in-law Armand Guilbault. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Lena's last employment was at the Health Sciences Centre in the tunnel cafeteria. At the age of 65 she retired for a few months, then returned to work part-time at the hospital cafeteria again, retiring finally at the age of 80 years. Mom enjoyed watching the Goldeyes and Blue Bomber games on TV also buying scratch tickets, 649 and pick 3 at the IGA store near her. She was a great mom, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother and will be missed by all of us. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 19 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, officiated by Chaplain Alex Drobot. Special thanks to Dr. G. Dalling, Dr. G. Wilson and the great staff on the 5th floor, unit 6 at Seven Oaks Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory to the Children's Hospital Research Foundation. Rest in Peace 586-8044
