INGER TINGSKOU It is with great sadness that the family of Inger Tingskou announces her passing on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at the Grace Hospital. Inger is survived by her sons, Tony (Marie) of BC, Paul (Kathleen) and grandchildren, Amy, Randy of BC, Richard, Daniel and Adam. She is also survived by her best friend and life partner, Keith Dent. Inger Tingskou was born in Aalborg, Denmark on December l4, 1929. While in Denmark she learned to fly gliders, which is how she met her late husband Paul Bok Tingskou who passed away in 1976. She came to Canada in 1951. After living in a number of Canadian cities, she settled in Winnipeg in 1961. Inger was an artist who began painting with oils in the late 1960s. In the mid-seventies she began painting in pastels and water colours. After moving to Abbotsford, BC in 1988, she joined the Fraser Valley Watercolour Society and the Federation of Canadian Artists. Many of her paintings are now being enjoyed by people in Canada, United States, Mexico, Jersey Islands and Great Britain. They have also been exhibited in Watercolour Shows on the lower mainland of BC. Inger was employed by the Grace General Hospital as an Alcoholism Counselor from 1973 until her retirement in 1988. She touched the lives of many who benefited from her tireless compassion and support of people with addictions. During her retirement, Inger and Keith enjoyed spending winters in Mazatlan Mexico, summers in Winnipeg and all time in between in Abbotsford, BC. She also travelled to Denmark for family visits and on separate occasions took her sons and three oldest grandchildren with her. Inger returned to reside in Winnipeg in 2003. She made many good friends over the course of her life and will be sadly missed. She will be remembered for her fun spirit, caring soul, artistic talent and ability to persevere through any of life's challenges. She was affectionately known as Beste , which is Danish for Grandma, by her family. One of her greatest joys was hearing about or spending time with her grandchildren. Special thanks are extended to the Emergency and ICU staff at the Grace Hospital. Also thank you to the Home Care team for your support and compassion. A celebration of Inger's life will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Suite 200-6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. God Grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change Courage to change the things I can and Wisdom to know the difference. .....Serenity Prayer Chapel Lawn 885-9715
