Mom was a resident at Concordia Place Care Centre, her happy home for the last two and a half years. There she enjoyed the loving care and attention from all the staff, and friendship with other residents. Agnes was born in Schreiber ON and resided in Fort William and Winnipeg. She was employed by Canada Car during the war, and later Crossroads Centre. Mom lived a remarkably healthy life, loved to talk and socialize, but it was her children and grandchildren who were the joy of her life. She had a quick wit and great sense of humour that lasted until her final days. Living in her apartment on Grant Ave., she enjoyed attending aquasize at Pan Am pool and established many new and lasting friendships. She was predeceased by her husband Mel, grandson Steven, granddaughter Jennifer, parents, and siblings John, Noel, Monica, Irene and Frank. Mom leaves to mourn her five children: Doreen Bray (Tom), Cec (Val), Jim (Monica), Don, and Margy Cherkas. Grandchildren: Darren (May), David (Amanda), Amy (Dale), Teresa, Laura (Eric), Michael (Cindy), Derek, Ben, and A.J. Great-grandchildren: Brittany, Shay Lee, Anna, Daya and Sadie. Her sisters: Marg Webster, Anita Potentier and Pat Cook. She will also be missed by her extended family: Barb Ralph, Joan Sproule and surrogate daughter Joan Marr (Rob). Thanks to the staff at Concordia Place who provided Mom with so much love and compassion and special thanks to Pastor John Friesen who not only took care of her spiritual needs but captured her heart. She is now safe in the arms of her beloved Uncle Jim. Memorial service to be held at Concordia Place Personal P.C. Unit, 1000 Molson St. on Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. Pastor John Friesen officiating. As per her wishes, she will be cremated and flowers gratefully declined.
