ANNELIESE PONZILIUS January 24, 1927 - November 17, 2008 Peacefully Monday morning, Anneliese Ponzilius passed on at the Selkirk District General Hospital on November 17, 2008 at the age of 81 years. Anneliese was born on January 24, 1927 in Gaggenau, Germany where she met her late husband Karl and married in 1951. They moved to Toronto in 1958 and after several moves settled in Libau, Manitoba in 1966. Mama had several hobbies which included cross-stitching, needlepoint, crocheting, sewing and embroidery. She was a passionate cook and baker, who could lend a hand on the farm as well as raise three energetic sons and keep an immaculately clean house all at the same time. Mama enjoyed crossword puzzles, Sudoku and excelled at mathematics. Anneliese was predeceased by her daughter-in-law Leanne in 1996 and husband Karl in 1997. She is survived by her three sons, Karl-Heinz, Gunther (Giselle), Gerd (Caroline) and five grandchildren, Tomas, Bela, Annika, Corben and Reece. The family wishes to express our deepest appreciation to Dr. M. Cameron and Dr. C. Moltzan at St. Boniface General Hospital for their compassionate care. Special thanks to the nurses and staff at the Selkirk District General Hospital on the Surgical ward, Dr. G. Fuchs for his care and kind words and Dr. N. Antonenko. Also, thank you to the many staff from Homecare (Lucy, Susan, Mable) and Sandy and Inge (friend) for transportation services. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and an evening memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 19 (tonight) at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anneliese's honour to CancerCare Manitoba. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
