CECILE BERNARD (née CABARET) 1922 - 2008 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Cécile Bernard at Taché Centre on Wednesday, December 3, 2008. Cécile leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 60 years, Clément; her son, Alphonse (Shirley); her son Daniel (Carmelle); and her daughter, Micheline (Rick) Harrison; her grandchildren, Ginette (Neil) Sabourin; Stéphane (Serena); Julien Desaulniers; Marlène Desaulniers-Bernard; Rob Yerama; and Stacey (Rob) Pilon; her great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Kaden, Amélie, and Cyera; and her brother-in-law, Georges (Marie) Bernard. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and dear friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Alphonse and Cécile. Cécile was born in Argenteuil, France and she came to Canada with her parents in 1927, at age five. The family settled in Florzé in the Sandilands district. She moved to St. Boniface in 1946. Shortly after that, she met Clément and they were united in marriage on November 13, 1948 and just celebrated 60 wonderful years together. Over the years the couple farmed in the Haywood area and then owned a Macleod's store in St. Claude. They moved to Winnipeg in 1971. Cécile will be remembered as a devoted mother and wife and for her gift of being a wonderful cook. She enjoyed gardening, scrapbooking and doing all kinds of crafts. She and Clément also enjoyed many years at Plage Albert. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Estelle, Jeanette, Maureen and Dr. Fontigny and the staff of Taché Centre for their tender, loving care. Also to Angèle Roberts, Dr. Thiele and the staff of St. Boniface Hospital for the wonderful care given to Cécile earlier in 2008. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Cécile's memory to Taché Centre, 185 Rue Despins, Winnipeg, MB R2N 1J3. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Cécile's life will take place on Monday, December 8, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, 1 Green Acres Lane, Hwy #1 E. just inside the Perimeter.
