AUBERT POIRIER Peacefully, in his sleep, at his residence, Dad went to be with our Lord, on Saturday, December 20, 2008, at the age of 86 years. Dad was never afraid of work. He worked in Winnipeg at a tank manufacturing plant, as a welder, for 27 years. During the earlier years, he also farmed near Haywood, Manitoba. He moved his family to LaSalle in 1960 and lived there until 2006 when he and mom moved to Dakota House, an assisted-living residence. He gave much of his free time to assist his neighbours in LaSalle, using his welding skills and his inventive talents to repair or build things. At Dakota House, he enjoyed visiting with new friends, reminiscing about his time in the Air Force with fellow veterans. Dad was predeceased by his mother and father, Palmyre and Philias Poirier; his brothers and sister-in-law, Bernard and Micky Poirier, Ovide (Paul) Poirier, Azarie (Andy) Poirier, and brothers-in-law, Emile Beaudry and Ernest Gaudry. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife of 62 years, Germaine; his children, Ulysse (Elaine), Juliette (Len), Claude (Diane), Roger, Yolande (Kris) Bailey, Dolores (Frazer) Frizzel, and Louis (Remy); his brothers and sisters, Roland (Edna), Denis (Lucy), Ghislaine (Harvey) Corbiere, Estelle Beaudry, Bernadette (Joe) Beaudry, and Gertrude Gaudry; as well as, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral mass will be celebrated by Father John McKenzie at the Saint-Hyacinthe Roman Catholic Church, in LaSalle, Manitoba, on Saturday, December 27 at 11:00 a.m. Viewing will begin at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place in the LaSalle Parish Cemetery, following the mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Aubert's memory, to the Manitoba Lung Association, 2nd floor, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6 or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
