THOMAS (nee SHOULDICE) July 19, 1920 - January 10, 2009 Peacefully, after a lengthy illness on January 10, 2009, Helen passed away at the age of 88 at St. Norbert Personal Care Home. She was predeceased by her husband Tom in July of 1993 and her daughter-in-law Jeanne in 2004. Helen will be sadly missed by her children, Jim, Bruce (Joyce) and Joy Newcombe; grandchildren, J.B., Mark, Cathryn, Jennifer (Jason) and Kevin; great-grandchildren, Max and Sam; brother Don (Shirley) of Halifax. She will also be remembered by many extended family and friends. Helen was born and raised in Fort Rouge. She married Tom in 1943 and they spent 49 years together. Helen was a longtime member of the Rosedale United Church and the U.C.W. She stayed in contact with many of her childhood friends through their monthly girls club . Helen always put her family first, she was a wonderful listener and her quiet strength will be missed. The family would like to thank longtime friends, Mary and Jack Coulter for their unwavering support throughout her longtime illness. A special thanks to Yvonne, Sandy, Agnes, Roz and the wonderful staff at St. Norbert Personal Care Home for the care shown to Mom over the past seven years. In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen's name may be made to the charity of choice. Cremation has taken place and private family service will be held. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
