Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • In the mid 1970's I was a teenager and CFRW was the station to listen to for current music and Ron Able was the morning man. He had a hysterically funny segment called "Hello Winnipeg" that he ran for some time where he would phone random people up and not let them know who he was and say outlandish things to get a reaction out of them and then finally tell them they were on the radio. I loved them so much I tape recorded a number of them and found the cassette recently and loved them all over again. I'm so sorry to hear of Ron's passing. He was an amazing and talented guy. - Posted by: Rick Burfoot (radio listener) on: Dec 05, 2016

  • I had the honor of working with Ron 30 years ago at KY-58. He was a giant in the broadcast industry, yet was one of the most down to earth people you could have ever met. Ron was just as funny and approachable off the air as he was on. He and Manny Buzunis were the greatest teachers I had the privilidge to be associated with. What I learned from them was priceless. I am so sorry to learn of Ron's passing, and offer my prayers to his loved ones. - Posted by: Mark Silbermann (Co-Worker) on: Feb 19, 2009

  • I was so sorry to learn of Ron's passing. I have grown up listening to his joyful voice over the airwaves for the last 25 years. He has given me so much through music and laughter. We will all miss him so much. To Ron's family and friends my condolences. Thank you Ron for everything. - Posted by: Jackie Towle (Friend) on: Feb 18, 2009
