GERALD (GERRY) THOMAS PURNELL It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving husband, dad and grandpa Gerald (Gerry) Thomas Purnell on Saturday, March 14, 2009. Gerry was born April 9, 1926 in Winnipeg, MB. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara, daughters Bonnie (Don) Bisset; Tammy (Alan) Proctor; Christine Purnell; Fawn Purnell and son Harvey (Rebekah) Purnell, brother Victor; brothers-in-law Don Graham (Marsha and family), Andy (Lee), Marty (Sylvia), Lawrence Wakaruk and sister-in-law Dorothy Opitz and families; grandchildren Cameron, Kyle, Heidi, Treasure, Naomi, Blair, Joshua, Justin, Jordan, Kristopher and four great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents, sister Lorraine Sutcliffe, brother Leonard and his first wife Pat. Gerry lived and worked in Manitoba most of his life with the exception of his time while serving in the army. He experienced a few career choices from farming in Sarto and Stuartburn, longhaul truck driving, carpentry and finally as a custodial/maintenance worker with St. Vital School Division where he retired. He moved to Country Villas in 1999. Thank you to the staff at Concordia Hospital for taking such great care of Gerry over the past couple of months. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue.
