Date of Passing: Mar 25, 2009
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM (BILL) MARTIN BUCKELS Peacefully, with his family by his side, William (Bill) Martin Buckels passed away at the Grace Hospital on March 25, 2009 at the age of 84 years. Bill will always be remembered and lovingly missed by his wife Evelyn of 59 years; his sons, William (Roberta), Edward (Roxanne), daughter Nancy Sullivan, along with his seven grandchildren, Eddie, Erin (Shawn), Carey, Brendan, Billy, Jack and Ashleigh pinkypal (Keith). Bill was born in Winnipeg on November 1st, 1924, and was raised in West Kildonan. From an early age Bill was gifted with woodworking skills, mechanical ability and his creativity extended from unique inventions to his love of playing music. On March 3, 1950 Bill married his soulmate, Evelyn, and their romance never stopped. During the early years of their marriage Bill built their two homes, which included shoveling the basements out by hand after working a full time day job. His enjoyment of his island on Eagle Lake and love of water inspired him to build a variety of wooden watercraft as well as the cabins where Bill and Evelyn spent many happy holidays with their family. Bill retired from the CNR in 1989 and, with Evelyn by his side, travelled throughout Canada, the USA and Hawaii, and made trips to Jamaica. Bill and Evelyn enjoyed living in their own home in St. Vital where they resided together until his passing. A remembrance ceremony will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 2nd, at Green Acres Memorial Gardens / Funeral Home and Cemetery, Hwy #1 East of The Mint (222-3241). The Family wishes to extend sincere Thanks to the Grace Hospital Staff for their caring, kindness and support. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Rest Peacefully my Love. My memories of you will never be forgotten - your Evie xox
