Robert was predeceased by his loving mother Ruth Lancaster on May 29, 1998. He leaves to mourn, Victor Kalis, his best friend of many years; his sister Lillian Maines (Leland); nephews, nieces, and many friends. Robert was born in Winnipeg and worked at the Winnipeg Free Press for 23 years, until failing health led to early retirement in 1988.
