GLADYS THOMAS Peacefully on May 31, 2009, with loved ones at her side Gladys Thomas passed from this life. Left to cherish her memory and honour her life are Gladys' nine children, Lyle, Terry, Beverley, Barry (Maureen), Harley, Marilyn (Leo), Dean (Janet), Tim (Lori) and Les (Judy). Gladys will be missed and remembered by her 22 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Gladys' brothers, Ron and Mel and her sisters, Marlene (Gil), Jean, Myrna (Romeo) and Mardella (Gerald) and brother-in-law, Uncle Bud mourn her passing. Gladys was predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward Thomas, her brothers Emery, Wilbur, Floyd and Grenville and her sisters Merle and Fern and her parents Richard and Gertrude Monkman. Gladys was also predeceased by her friend and former husband William Porth. Although cousins, nieces and nephews are too numerous to mention, Mom held each of you closely in her heart and we know you share our sorrow. Mom was born on April 1, 1930 in St. Clements, Manitoba. Her life held many passions but none more important than the love of her family. Mom's greatest pleasures and memories were time spent surrounded by those she loved. She was an avid sports fan, loved to travel and enjoyed music and dance. Gladys also extended her love of family to include many friends. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Salem and the nursing staff at Seven Oaks Hospital, especially Patricia and Jennifer, whose compassion helped to make Gladys comfortable in her last difficult days. Thanks also to Curtis Monkman for his support. A Service to celebrate Mom's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday June 4, 2009 at Calvary Temple - 400 Hargrave St., Winnipeg, MB. Contributions to The Canadian Lung Association or to a charity of one's choice are appreciated.
