Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryARMAND JULES DESHARNAIS Armand died peacefully at the age of 85 on Thursday, June 25, 2009 surrounded by family. Armand is survived by his wife of 60 years, Claire (née Dupuis), as well as his seven children: Léonard (Ann-Marie), René (Lyse), Lise (Randy), Marc (Ginette), Pierre (Cathy), Gisèle (Gilbert), and Lucie (Richard). He also leaves to mourn 23 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents Ovila and élizabeth (née Martin), his sisters Irène, Lucille and Amanda, and his brother Henri (Gertrude). Armand was born on July 22, 1923 in St. Pierre, Manitoba. He started farming with his brother Henri and later partnered with his sons to form Destein Farms in Carey. He was very community-minded and gave his time to many provincial and local organizations, most notably the St. Pierre Museum. He was instrumental in developing the town's annual maple syrup festival. Armand was known for his progressive spirit and his devotion to his family and church. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 30 at 2:30 p.m. at the St. Pierre Catholic Church. The family thanks the staff of the DeSalaberry District Health Centre for their wonderful care of Armand as well as for their support and compassion.
