OWEN HERBERT THOMPSON October 16, 1950 - July 12, 2009 It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our loving son, father, brother and friend on Sunday, July 12, 2009 at the age of 58. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Bridget (Darren); son Bradford; his parents, Herbert and Megnon Thompson; brothers, Bruce, Doug (Karen); niece and nephew, Laura and Brian; and best friend Lori Griffin. Owen was born and raised in Winnipeg and had attended Houston University on an athletic scholarship, and later attended the University of Manitoba. He spent his life working for the government, where he had just recently retired from in December 2008. Owen's greatest passions were golfing at Pine Ridge Golf Course with his daughter and closest friends and skiing on the slopes in the winter with his son snowboarding by his side. When he couldn't be on the golf course or the slopes, he enjoyed going out for supper and going for walks with friends. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 20, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Neil Bardal Inc., 3030 Notre Dame Avenue across from Brookside Cemetery.
