MARIA SANTANGELO Peacefully, on July 18, 2009, Maria Santangelo (Nona) passed away at the age of 88 years, with her family by her side. Ma was predeceased by her husband Carmelo Santangelo; two children Salvadore (the 1st) and Rosetta (the 1st); her parents, siblings and numerous family members and friends. Ma was born on October 14, 1920 in Catania, Sicily. In 1954, Ma brought our family to Canada where we have since continued to grow. Our mom and Nona will be deeply missed by her children Salvadore (Theresa), Orazio (Susan), Rosetta (Georg), Francesco (Cherie) and Ernesto; her 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and even great-great-grandchildren. Ma was the glue that bonded our family together. She was devoted to her children, family friends and even pets. She touched the hearts of all who were lucky enough to have met her. Ma's generosity was endless, it made her most happy to give to her family, and that she did. Ma (Nona), your divine Italian cuisine will be greatly missed, especially your famous meatballs . Ma (Nona), you filled our lives with so much happiness and love. The memory of your bright smile and cheerful laugh will forever be held in our hearts.
