THEODORE (TED) BRUNEN November 17, 1926 - August 31, 2009 Survived by his loving wife, Doreen, son Ken (Tracy) and grandchildren Brian and Lauren. Predeceased by his second son Douglas in 1979. Ted was born and raised in Pilger, SK. before moving to Ochre River, MB, then to Winnipeg where he met and married Doreen Pfeifer, his wife of 57 years. At that time he began a 34 year career with the Winnipeg Fire Department, retiring in April, 1987 as a District Chief. Ted thoroughly enjoyed his time on the job especially with his crew at #2 Station. He was an active member at the Elmwood #9 Legion and enjoyed curling, golf, winters in Mesa, Arizona and time spent at the family cottage at Lee River. Retirement took Ted and Doreen to reside in Penticton, BC, where he continued his interests until his passing. A private family service has been held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ted's memory to the Winnipeg Fire Fighters Burn Fund, 303-83 Garry Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 4J9.

  • I only knew my uncle Ted when I was a child of 7 to 12 yrs old. I looked up to him as a hero. I used to ask him questions about fire fighting because I wanted to be one someday.
