JOHN PRICE Peacefully, after a courageous battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, it is with deep regret that we announce the death of John William Thomas Price surrounded by his family on September 30, 2009 at the age of 70 years. Remaining to forever cherish John's memory is Georgette, his wife of 43 years; sons Michael (Corinne), Sean (Courtney); daughter Joelle (Rick); grandchildren Kynan, Noah, Joshua and Jacob; sisters Maureen and Rosaline; aunt Nancy, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his mother Mary; father Thomas; mother-in-law Jeanne; father-in-law George and brother-in-law James. Born in England, John immigrated to Canada when he was 17. He started his lifelong printing career at the Winnipeg Free Press, culminating with his successful self-named business from which he retired. Dad was an avid hunter, fisherman, downhill and water skier, the oldest slalom skier on White Lake. He had many tools and could fix anything, even broken hearts. Father was actively involved in the White Lake Ski Gulls for many years. He spent his leisure time enjoying camping in a tent on the hill, in many campers, the bus, and finally the family cabin at White Lake. This cottage became Dad's home away from home and was a meeting place for all his family and friends. Numerous wonderful times were enjoyed singing, dancing, eating, drinking and playing lawn darts by the fire. Dad was a gentle, happy, friendly and outgoing soul. His endless list of friends will attest to his uncanny ability to instantly make new friends. We could not have asked for a better husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and true friend. John's memorial service will be held on Monday, October 5, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in the Transcona Memorial United Church, 209 Yale Avenue West. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to John's charity of choice, The Salvation Army, 324 Logan Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3A 0L5

My deepest condolences on the pasting of John, I know I didn't know him, I only found out our relationship by doing my family tree, I wished I could have know him in real life. I just read the article in the Winnipeg Free Press that someone sent me. - Posted by: David A Price (2nd Cousin) on: Mar 18, 2016

I have the fondest memories of John driving the Ski Gulls ski boat, helping us learn to ski. Just driving the old boat was a job in itself, but John kept it upright and us safe. Our summers would not have been the same without him. White Lake was a magical place because of people like John and Georgette. God rest you John Price and may God bless your family in this time of sorrow. Just know that he made a real difference in the lives of many people. I was one of them. Thank you. - Posted by: Jim Ruta (Friend) on: Oct 11, 2009
