ROCKY PROVINCIANO It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving husband and dear father Rocky on Sunday, October 4, 2009 at the Selkirk General Hospital. Rocky will be loved and missed forever by his loving wife of 45 years, Anna, daughter Camilla (husband Frank and granddaughter Rachel), and sons Frank and Michael. He also leaves to mourn his brothers Antonino ( Tony , and wife Dolly) and Marcello ( Mo , and wife Nelly), sister Angelina (late husband Steve), nephews (Dave, Maury, Gerry, Larry), and nieces (Gail, Barbie, Cheryl, Nina), with their spouses and many cousins too numerous to list. He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Camilla, and sister Minnie (late husband Tony and late son Wayne). Dad was born and lived in Fort Garry all his life. He was very close to his mother and father, who taught him how important love and family are. As a child he loved animals of all types, finding tadpoles, frogs, rabbits and birds to keep as pets. As a teenager his favourite sport was baseball, and as a pitcher with a strong arm he earned the nickname Pinch . He loved music, especially Elvis, and could dance and roller skate better than most. Rocky married the love of his life, Anna, on February 15, 1964. He was a loving father to his daughter Camilla and twin sons Frank and Michael, and, grandfather to Rachel who loved him very much. He had an excellent memory and always reminded his family of important dates in our lives and old family stories. He had a twinkle in his eye and a keen sense of humour. He was friends with many neighbours and the numerous life-long friends of his sons and daughter. Rocky worked for many years at Mamma Mia and Monte Bello restaurants. He enjoyed his job and interacting with his customers. Rocky was a very strong person, fighting against health challenges for too many years. Although he had many ups and downs he did the best he could and was successful at raising his children to know that love and family are the most important things in life. He had a big heart full of love for his family as well as his many pets, the last ones being Pearl, Coco and Licorice. We wish you only peace Dad. Our hearts are broken now, but we know that you are in a better place where there will be no more suffering. See you later alligator . Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 9 at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Rosary Parish Church, 510 River Avenue with Fr. Sam Argenziano as the Celebrant. Viewing will be between 1:30 and 2:00 p.m. Pallbearers are Dave Provinciano, Lawrence Hamm, Guy Cianflone, Michael Pauls, John Pauls, Domenic Cantafio, and Max Utsunomya (honorary). Our family would like to thank the staff at Selkirk Mental Health Centre who have been so helpful to Rocky. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, please donate to either the Winnipeg Humane Society or the Manitoba Schizophrenia Society.
