Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY (MARUSIA) PTASHNYK (Lapka) On October 25, 2009 at the Percy E. Moore Hospital in Hodgson, MB, Marusia (Mary) Ptashnyk passed away peacefully with family at her side at the age of 82. Left to forever cherish her memory is her husband, Mike of 62 years; daughters - Margie (Hank), Liz and Pat (Gary), six grandchildren - Stacey and Shawn, Dwayne (Christine) and Kyle, Monique and Chad, five great-grandchildren - Garrett, Rylee, Conor, Aden, and Rylyn. She will be dearly missed by her sisters - Helen, Susie, Lovey, Doreen; brothers Joe and Michael as well as numerous nieces, nephews and her coffee friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Victoria and Michael, sister Olga, brothers Max and Benny and son-in-law Orest. Marusia was born on January 18, 1927 in Poplarfield, Manitoba where she resided until her passing. She loved to cook and could often be found puttering around the kitchen preparing family feasts with all the Ukrainian specialties; no one ever left her house hungry. Her freezer was always filled with perogies. Her greatest loves were her grandchildren and she always looked forward to their visits. Baba, we miss you more than words can say, but we will see you again one day. She enjoyed gardening, Wednesday night bingo, word search puzzles, playing cards and drinking tea. But above all, she will be remembered for her generosity, her loyalty, her love of family, and the pride she took in our accomplishments. She was an active member of Poplarfield Community Center, and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Rev. Father Richard Ehrmantraut will officiate the service on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the Poplarfield Community Hall. Interment to follow at the Poplarfield Community Cemetery. As per her request, her six grandchildren will be her pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at Percy E. Moore or to a charity of one's choice. And the mother said: I have reached the end of my journey. And now I know that the end is better than the beginning, for my children can walk alone, and their children after them. And the children said: You will always walk with us, Mother, even when you have gone through the gates. And they stood and watched her as she went on alone and the gates closed after her. And they said We cannot see her, but she is with us still. A mother like ours is more than a memory. She is a living presence. God has you in His keeping, We have you in our hearts, Mom .......
