JOHANNES (JOHN) TIEGS On Thursday, November 5, 2009, Johannes (John) Tiegs peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Saviour at the age of 94 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Charlotte, daughter Karin (Georg) Gerlach, son Wolfgang, grandchildren: Stephanie (Clinton) Friesen, Ryan, Suzanne, and Alexander Gerlach. He was predeceased by his sister Charlotte Schleppe. Dad was a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather. He was born on May 24, 1915 in Stargard in Pommern, Germany. He married his loving wife Charlotte in 1950, and they immigrated to Canada in 1953. He served faithfully at Rowandale Baptist Church for many years, including positions as Sunday School Teacher, Clerk, Moderator, and Deacon. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Manitoba Baptist Home Society Inc. (Meadowood Manor Personal Care Home and Elderly Persons Housing), representing Rowandale Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 10 at 2:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Home, with Pastor Mark Woods officiating. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. The family would like to extend their special thanks to all the staff at Donwood Manor Personal Care Home for their faithful and loving care. Dad had a special place in his heart for the ministry at Meadowood Manor.
