CYNTHIA MARY BUTT (nee TOWNSON) 1923 - 2009 Cynthia Butt passed away on Thursday, November 19 in Kamsack, Saskatchewan. She is predeceased by her parents Harry and Daisy Townson, her brothers Bill and Bob, and her husband Archie. She is survived by her children Judy (Bob), Lindsay, Sue (Danielle) and Pam (Tom), grandchildren Lora, Kim, Kerry, Michael, Tamara and Trevor, great-grandchildren Kellen, Colby, Riley, Liam, Josie and Tessa. Cynthia was born in 1923 in St. Austell, Cornwall, England. During the Second World War she was a Voluntary Aid Detachment. She met her husband Archie Butt during the war and immigrated to Canada to marry him in December 1946. They lived in Kamsack where they raised their family until they moved to Winnipeg in 1961. She liked to be involved in her community, while in Kamsack, she was a Brownie and Girl Guide Leader and was an active member of the Legion. She loved to spend summers at 'her' cottage at Madge Lake and reading for hours. Cynthia was very involved with the X11 Manitoba Dragoons Veterans Association. Cynthia and Archie were instrumental coordinating the publication of the X11 Manitoba Dragoons: A Tribute 1885-1964. She helped to coordinate reunions for the Dragoon veterans and The Staghound Newsletter. When her health began to deteriorate she moved to Roblin, Manitoba to be closer to her youngest daughter Pam and her two grand-children. Eventually, she moved to Kamsack's, Eaglestone Lodge. Thank you to the staff at Eaglestone and the nurses in the Kamsack Hospital who cared for her. Cynthia will be missed by those who loved her. A private service will be held at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society.
