MARY OKOLITA (nee BOYKO) The family of Mary Okolita (nee Boyko) of Beausejour are saddened to announce her passing on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at the age of 93 years at the Beausejour Hospital. She will be lovingly remembered by her sons Eric (Lyla), and Larry (Debbie), grandchildren Crystal (Mike Walker), Shane, Danny McLean, Farrah, and Ashley (Trevor) St. Pierre; great-grandchildren Anika and Grace Walker. Mary was predeceased by her husband John; brothers Paul, Steve, Mike, Harry and Peter Boyko; sister Annie Hladiuk and parents John and Apolona Boyko. Mary was born on April 18, 1916 in Ladywood, MB on the family homestead. She married John and they farmed until John's passing in 1994. Mary remained on the farm until 1996 at which time she moved to a small home in Beausejour and remained in her home until her brief illness. Mary was an excellent cook and provided her family with many delicious meals. Mary could also grow a great garden and was happy to share her bounty with friends and neighbours. She was very proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary will be missed by family and friends. She is now reunited with John after 15 long years. Prayers will be said on Sunday, December 13 at 7:00 p.m. at the Sobering Funeral Chapel. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 14 at 10:30 a.m., also at the chapel with Fr. Richard Ehrmantraut presiding. Interment will follow at the Sandhill Greek Orthodox Church cemetery. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank Mary's homecare workers who made it possible for her stay in her home to the very end, and also to Dr. Daphne Schmidt and the personnel at the Beausejour Hospital for their care and compassion during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in her memory may be made to your favourite charity. SOBERING FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM, Beausejour 268-3510 or MB toll free 1-877-776-2220
