BARRIE JEAN SCARRETT (nee GRAY) January, 1943 January 14, 2010 You know it's coming but it is hard to accept the harsh reality of it. Barrie lost her arduous battle with rheumatoid arthritis on January 14, 2010 at the Portage General Hospital. Barrie was born in January, 1943 in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. She grew up in St. James until she married and moved to Portage La Prairie with her loving husband Herb. Together, for many years they operated the Portage Golf Club. Herb, as the club pro and Barrie, in various jobs helping her partner. Barrie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and aunt. She is survived by Herb Scarrett, sons Colin, Sean (Savanna), grandchildren, Seth, Avery and Jessalyn. She will also be deeply missed by her sisters, Pat Wallis, Geri and Jackie Gray and Lorrie Sudoski (Mike). Niece Carey (John), nephew Michael (Jen) and numerous cousins. We cannot forget to mention great-nieces Emma and Quinn Snively and great-nephew David Sudoski. Barrie was predeceased by parents Audrey and Dave Gray, sister Kim (in infancy), brother-in-law Gerry Wallis and very recently brother Jim Gray. As per Barrie's wishes, no funeral service will take place, just a small private farewell at a later date. The stubborn Scottish streak ran through her but she would give you the shirt off her back. She is truly loved and will be missed greatly.
