EUGENE PODWORNIAK May 22, 1950 - February 26, 2010 Comfortable and peacefully surrounded by family and friends, we are saddened to announce the passing of Eugene Podworniak. After a courageous heartfelt battle with cancer. Eugene will be lovingly remembered by family and numerous friends. Eugene was very proud and honoured to be a big part of the lives of some very special people he held dear to his heart, Marie, Jake, Janice, Christopher, Heather and a recently sponsored son by World Vision. Eugene will be lovingly remembered by his mother Walentyna; daughter Nadine (Todd); grandchildren, Anna and Tano; brothers, Wally (Donna), John (Lorraine); nieces and nephews, Quinn, Roseanna and Brenden. He was predeceased by his brother Peter and father Micheal. Eugene was born in Swan River and grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Eugene made occasional appearances to David Thompson and Elmwood high school; however there is very little proof of this. Eugene did not have an aptitude for a formal education but excelled in the school of life. This resulted in his returning to school to achieve a certificate in welding. This led him to a rewarding career in Fort McMurray and other locations in western Canada. His various employment postings led Eugene to establish many lasting friendships which are cherished to this day. Eugene was a man who found value in family and friends not in materialistic things, which resulted in him being a very generous and giving person who never hesitated to offer a helping hand to anybody, whether it be a friend family member or stranger. The shirt on his back always belonged to somebody else. Eugene was raised in a Christian environment which he returned to in the last few years of his life. This prepared Eugene for a peace and calmness for what lay ahead. The family would like to thank all Eugene's buddies for their continued friendship especially helping him through this difficult time. 2 Corinthians 5:17 When anybody is joined to Christ he is a new being; the old is gone, the new has come. A memorial service will be held at Klassens Funeral Home, 1879 Henderson Hwy. on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. A gathering to celebrate Eugene's life will take place at the Elmwood Legion, 920 Nairn at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Eugene would have loved for you to sponsor a child.
