LOUIS ALEXANDER RASMUSSEN June 7, 1927 - March 29, 2010 Peacefully, after a lengthy illness, Louis Rasmussen passed away at the age of 82 years. Louis was predeceased by his son Ludwig in 1986. Louis is survived by his beloved wife, Laura; children, Lynn and Marsha (David); granddaughter Amanda; cousin George (Anna) of Minnesota. Louis was born in Vogar, Manitoba on June 7, 1927 and grew up nearby. He spent 13 winters working in the ice fishing industry on Lake Manitoba. He and Laura were married in Winnipeg on September 25, 1954. Louis worked very hard to provide for his family. He worked at various places, mainly driving trucks. He enjoyed travelling, fishing, camping and working with cars. After his retirement, much time was spent camping with his wife around Manitoba and the United States. He loved reading all sorts of books, especially history books. He read the entire Pierre Burton series. Family was a big part of Louis life. Some of his favourite times were spent with his family enjoying a good home-cooked dinner. Louis was never one for many words, but was known for his great sense of humour. He was infamous for his one-liners, always bringing a smile to the faces of those around him. He kept up his sense of humour even when he was struggling with his health. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street with the Rev. Scott MacAuley officiating. Following a reception, interment will be in Brookside Cemetery. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Fred Douglas Lodge for their care and compassion during Louis last couple of years and to the ministry and congregation of Sparling United Church for the many years of support and friendship. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4: 7 Rest in peace, Dad. 843 Sherbrook Street Condolences: www.bardal.ca Ample parking behind the funeral home.
