BARBARA J. THOMAS It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Barbara on April 15, 2010 at the St. Boniface Hospital. Barb was predeceased by her parents, Art and Eva Thomas. She is survived by several cousins and close friends. Family and friends were important to Barb and over the years she always made the effort to keep in touch. Barb was employed by Manitoba Telephone System prior to her graduation from the University of Manitoba. She went on to teach at Carpathia, Riverview and Grosvenor schools. Barb's students have fond memories of their years with her, especially her fascination with the topic of penguins. Barb was known for her love of animals. Throughout her life, Barb had three furry companions whom she cherished, Brutus, Peter and Brittney. After retiring, Barb became a volunteer at Victoria Hospital from 1998 to 2004 and was a life member of the Guild of Victoria Hospital. She also enjoyed traveling around the world to places like Africa, South America and Europe. Thank you to Home Care and all the staff on 6E at St. Boniface Hospital for their kindness and support. Memorial service will be held on Friday, April 23, 2010 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., with interment and reception to follow.
