Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWANDA MARION PUPEK (nee HERTZ) January 6, 1934 - April 25, 2010 After a long and courageous battle, fought with incredible spirit and an unwavering will to live, Mom passed away into God's loving arms with her family by her side on April 25, 2010 at the R.V.H. in Barrie, Ontario. Wanda will be lovingly remembered by her husband Stanley, of 52 years, sons Darryl (Kathleen) of Fredericton and Wayne (Julie) of Barrie. She will also be greatly missed by her four grandchildren Alex, Lucas, Cole and Torri as well as her brother Tony (Adeline) of Minneapolis, MN and sister Jennie (John) of Winnipeg as well as her many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Wanda was predeceased by her mother Stefania, father Rudolph, mother and father-in-law Eva and Felix, oldest sister Jean in 2005 and brother-in-law Albert in 2008. Wanda was born on January 6, 1934 and raised in East Selkirk, MB just north of Winnipeg, where she attended Happy Thought School. Wanda was a member of the St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church and a former president of the Women's Church Auxiliary. Mom also worked within Winnipeg's River East School Division mostly at Kildonan East High School as an assistant Culinary Instructor for many years until her retirement. Mom was all about family. She was an absolutely fabulous cook, avid bowler, taught her boys to skate, loved to laugh, supported her community, enjoyed a good time, polka, country and western music, playing the slots at any casino, watching her nephew in the CFL and following her grandchildren's sporting and other endeavours. In addition, Mom and Dad also spent more than 15 winters at the Hide-Away Park and Resort in Ruskin, Florida just south of Tampa Bay where she flourished in a community of friends from around eastern North America - recreating, living and loving life. A private family prayer service will take place in Barrie, Ontario at the Jennett Chapel of the McCLELLAND SLESSOR Funeral Home, 152 Bradford Street in Barrie, Ontario L4N 3B5 (705-722-6656). A full memorial service will be held in the summer at the St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church in Winnipeg with the Very Reverend Wesley Cwieka presiding. Honorary pallbearers in Winnipeg will be her many family and friends. Stan, Darryl and Wayne would like to sincerely thank Dr. David Srour and Dr. Walter Kutcher for their outstanding medical attention as well as the numerous nurses and staff on 3 South A who cared for Mom during her hospital time. A special thank you to Jennie and treasured nieces Darlene, Cheryl and Paige for traveling to visit her which cheered Mom up creating special memories. In Wanda's memory, donations can be made to the Royal Victoria Hospital Cancer Care Centre in Barrie, Ontario by contacting the funeral home.
