ANNE ELIZABETH POPOWE Following a brief illness, it is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Anne Popowe, aged 80 years, with her family by her side on May 19, 2010 at Concordia Hospital. Mom leaves to mourn her passing her daughter Charlene (Eugene), son Darrell (Gisele), and grandson Brady. Also missing her are her brother Bill (Mickey), sister Diane (Roy), brother Bill Turko, sister Grace, sister-in-law Laura Blackhall, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Michael Frederick Popowe in 1991, as well as by her parents Eva Hallas and Albert Simonson, brothers John, Harry, and Mike, and sisters Mary and Helen. In her earlier years she worked at the Nutty Club Confectionery, then as a switchboard operator at CBC, and finally in Customer Service at the Post Office. She retired in 1986 to enjoy curling, darts, 10 pin bowling, golf, cards, and lawn bowling. She was a member of the Lioness and Good Neighbours Clubs, and enjoyed volunteering for various organizations. Cremation has taken place, and a private family memorial service will take place at a later date. The family wishes to thank the staff at Concordia Hospital for their care and compassion for our mom, as well as her best friend Bev Lundgren for her kindness and support.
