He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Louise; his children, Gwen (Lucien), Bunny (Don), Donna (Walt), Gord (Kim); his step-children, Bob (Charmaine), Sharon (Barry), Michael (Jeri); 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and five step-grandchildren. Gordon was one of 13 children, born to Henry George and Mary Ann Thomas. He is survived by one brother John (Anne) and one sister Gladys. Also left to cherish his memory are numerous nephews and nieces, many good friends, and his church family at St. James Gospel Chapel. He was predeceased by his first wife Esther Ruth Paulson and his grandson Matthew Charles Crook. Gordon will be dearly missed by his family. Having a loving father like Poppa made it easier for us to believe in a Heavenly Father. He taught us by example how to live a life pleasing to God. Gordon was a very hardworking man. He believed in doing his best no matter how menial the task. Anything that could be done today was done. He was always ready to help others. Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 16, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Westwood Community Church, 401 Westwood Drive, Winnipeg, MB with Laurie Barth and Alistair Cameron officiating. Public viewing will be prior to the service from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Balsam Bay Cemetery at 4:30 p.m. Special thanks to his faithful doctor, Dr. David Breckman and his nurse Nicole for their expert care through the years. Also, thanks to the staff at Riverview Health Centre who were so compassionate and caring for the few days he was there. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints. Psalm 116:15
