Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHAROLD DOUGLAS THOM December 9, 1918 - July 12, 2010 It is with deep sorrow that we announce following a brief illness, the peaceful passing of our dear father, brother, uncle and friend, Harold Douglas Thom on Monday July 12, 2010. Harold is survived by his son Doug, daughter-in-law Marge, and her children Jennifer (Gary), Tyler (Gwen) and the great-grandchildren Jaimie, Marley, Logan and Emma; brother, Ken (Faye), and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Ida; their infant son Robert Allan; his parents Eleanor and Douglas; and his brother Roy. Born in Oakburn, Manitoba December 9, 1918, Harold served in the RCAF; was a long time member of Knox United Church; and was an honourary member of session. Harold was very active in his community including; past-president of St. James Assiniboia Chamber of Commerce; Past Potentate of Khartum Shrine Temple; a life member of Meridian Lodge #140 A.F A.M; a member of All Bodies of Scottish Rite of Freemasonry; member of the Royal Order of Scotland; past Director of the Royal Order of Jesters; as well as a long time member of St. Charles Country Club. Harold's accomplishments, as well as his interests, were many and varied. Most of all, he was a kind and gentle soul, who sought out the good in every person and every situation. Harold cherished his family and his many friends. His recent move to Seine River Retirement Residence brought him much happiness through the friends he made with the staff and other tenants. He especially enjoyed watching the deer and other wildlife from his balcony. Although we will miss him dearly, we take comfort in knowing he lived a long meaningful, joyful life. We will be forever grateful he was in our lives Following private cremation a memorial service will be held at Neil Bardal Inc., 3030 Notre Dame Avenue at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 16, with Reverend Don Wilson officiating. Flowers gratefully declined, if friends so wish donations may be made to Shriners Hospital care of 1155 Wilkes Avenue, R3P 1B9, or a charity of their choice. NEIL BARDAL INC.
